About Boolarra

The Township of Boolarra has long been known for its friendly country atmosphere and wonderful setting. Nestled in the foothills of the Eastern Strzelecki Ranges, a pleasant drive southeast of Melbourne, Boolarra is home to the largest gold fish farm in the southern hemisphere and many successful artist. The old railway line, which closed in 1974, has become an attractive Rail-Trail bush walk, following the little Morwell River Valley up to the neighbouring town of Mirboo North with plenty of native wildlife to view along the way. Boolarra comes alive with Arts and Crafts Markets and the annual Folk Music Festival staged in Railway Park in the centre of the village.
